Sven Ole Warnaar, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, has been appointed Honorary Professor at Central South University

On the morning of May 11th, Sven Ole Warnaar, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the University of Queensland, was appointed as an Honorary Professor of Central South University. The appointment ceremony was held in Room 362 of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. He Jun, Vice President of Central South University, Zhang Wuzhuang, Director of the Personnel Department, members of the leadership team of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and faculty representatives from the School of Mathematics and Statistics attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Liu Yuanyuan, Vice Dean (in charge) of the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

At the ceremony, Hu Yuxi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, introduced Academician Sven Ole Warnaar's background and academic achievements. Zhang Wuzhuang, Director of the Personnel Department, read out the appointment letter. Vice President He Jun, on behalf of Central South University, presented Academician Sven Ole Warnaar with the honorary professorship certificate and pinned the university badge on him.

Vice President He Jun, on behalf of the university, extended sincere congratulations to Academician Sven Ole Warnaar on his appointment at Central South University. He expressed hope that Academician Warnaar would continue to support the development of the university's mathematics discipline, providing strong guidance and achieving new successes in the university's "Double First-Class" initiative in mathematics, research on algebraic combinatorics in basic mathematics, and the cultivation of young talents.

Academician Sven Ole Warnaar stated that Central South University is a renowned high-level university, and he was very honored to become an honorary professor there. He hoped to use this opportunity to further deepen international cooperation between the University of Queensland and Central South University. He hoped to contribute to the training of young teachers, scientific research, and discipline development in the future, thereby contributing to the rapid development of the mathematics discipline at Central South University.

Sven Ole Warnaar is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Queensland, Australia, and a leading figure in the field of combinatorics and special functions. He was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2008, received the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2012-2013, the George Szekeres Medal from the Mathematical Society of Australia in 2020, and served as President of the Mathematical Society of Australia from 2021-2022. His main areas of expertise include algebraic combinatorics, additive number theory, and the theory of special functions. He has published numerous high-level papers in top mathematics journals such as *J. Amer. Math. Soc.*, *Acta Math.*, *Duke Math. J.*, *Adv. Math.*, and *Mem. Amer. Math. Soc.*, and previously served as editor-in-chief of *J. Combin. Theory, Ser. A*, and currently serves on the editorial board of *Adv. Appl. Math.*. He has not only achieved remarkable academic results, but also made outstanding contributions to academic exchanges, mathematics education and the dissemination of mathematical culture. Since 2007, he has served as an executive member of the International Conference on Formal Power Series and Algebraic Combinatorics (FPSAC), the most influential international conference in the field of algebraic combinatorics. He has also served as the chairman of the organizing committee for many international top mathematics competitions, such as the Simon Marais Mathematics Competition for college students.
