报告摘要:In this talk, I will discuss a new method based on the intracellular bacterium Wolbachia in the control of widespread mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and Zika. If female mosquitoes in natural areas cross with the males infected by this bacterium, then a mechanism called cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI) induces early embryo death. In Guangzhou, China, the Wolbachia driven incompatible insect technique has been combined with the sterile insect technique in the development of a biologically safe method to control Aedes albopictus population since 2015, by releasing Wolbachia-infected male mosquitoes reared in a large factory to various wild and residential areas. I will introduce our recent modeling approaches based on differential equations for the suppression of mosquitoes.

报告人简介:唐谟勋,1964年2月出生,博士,美国Michigan州立大学数学教授,广州大学特聘教授,博士生导师。

唐谟勋教授长期从事偏微分方程、泛函微分方程及生物数学的研究,主持完成美国国家自然科学基金一项(No.0531898),现主持国家自然科学基金一项。近年来在《J. Math. Biol.》,《Bull. Math. Biol.》,《J. Differ. Equ.》,《Ann. Inst. H. Poincare Anal. Nonlinaire》,《J. Theor. Biol.》,《J. Dyn. Differ. Equ.》,《SIAM J. Appl. Math.》等世界顶级学术杂志发表学术论文多篇,被引用400多次。
