报告题目:A Tool Path Planning Framework Driven by Optimization for 5-Axis Flank Machining

摘要:5-axis flank milling has been commonly used to produce complex geometries in the aerospace, automobile, mold, and energy industries, with superior productivity and shaping capability. The tool motion is highly flexible with two additional degrees of freedom in rotation. Tool path planning in 5-axis flank milling is highly complicated with the following difficulties: tool interference frequently occurs, geometrical errors on the machined surface cannot be precisely controlled, to automate the planning process is challenging. This talk introduces an intelligent tool path planning framework for 5-axis flank milling driven by global optimization. The tool path planning task is transformed into an optimization problem. The objective function and constraints in the optimization can be geometrical or physical conditions imposed by actual machining. Global search schemes are applied to obtain optimal tool paths compliant with the imposed conditions. Experimental results show that our method not only produces smaller errors compared to previous approaches, it also enables novel tool motions that could not be realized before. Examples include generation of reciprocating tool motion, spline-constrained tool path, and tool path planning with reduced cutting forces. The proposed framework provides a systematic computational approach for intelligent tool path planning in 5-axis flank milling of complex geometries.

报告人简介:瞿志行教授目前任教于台湾清华大学工业工程系,于台湾大学获得机械工程学士与硕士学位,之后获得美国柏克莱加州大学机械工程博士学位,主修制造工程及副修电脑科学。工作经验包括德国戴姆勒宾士公司研究实习、美国Autodesk公司软件工程师与维吉尼亚理工大学助理教授,亦曾经担任过德国亚琛工业大学、韩国成均馆大学、美国柏克莱加州大学与戴维斯加州大学访问学者,目前担任英国利物浦大学荣誉兼任教授,以及台湾高速电脑与网路中心合聘研究员,与中国工业工程学会学术委员会召集人。瞿教授研究兴趣在于电脑辅助设计与制造、扩增实境与智慧制造,曾荣获台湾国科会吴大猷纪念奖与科技部杰出研究奖,以及2012 ISPC与2015 IEEE IEEM会议之最佳论文,已发表英文研究论文超过200篇,并参与IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (SCI), International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (SCI), International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing (SCI), IJPEM: Green Technology (SCI), Frontiers in Engineering (EI)等国际期刊的编辑工作,以及Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering (E-SCI)的主编。
